'No comment' on possible job losses

The treasury minister is staying tight-lipped about any possible changes to government staffing levels in next month's budget.

Anne Craine will present her first budget on February 15 and will have to take decisive action to save a further ?50 million, which the Island lost when the United Kingdom renegotiated the VAT revenue sharing agreement.

Salaries account for a substantial part of the government's annual costs, but Mrs Craine wouldn't be drawn on whether staffing levels would be reduced:
