THE government has announced that it is moving the Companies Registry from Finch Hill House to St George’s Court in Douglas to provide greater efficiency and a “one stop shop” for business.
The move will take place next week when the Department of Economic Development has announced that a “limited service” will be provided during the course of the relocation.
As a result, the Companies Registry counter in Finch Hill House will close at 2pm on Monday 24th January 2011 until 9am on Thursday 27th January 2011.
A spokesman said, “During this period a limited service will continue to be provided with a member of staff from the Companies Registry at the main reception desk of the Department of Economic Development on the 1st Floor of St George’s Court.
“Incorporation, registration and other documents can continue to be deposited at the reception on the 1st Floor of St George’s Court. The Companies Registry will continue to respond to all telephone and e-mail enquiries as usual.”
The new location for the Companies Registry will be on the lower ground floor of St George’s Court, on the corner of Hill Street and Upper Church Street. The door to the Companies Registry will be on Hill Street.
Minister for Economic Development, Allan Bell MHK, said, “We understand there will be an inconvenience to business, for which we apologise, but the move requires the physical relocation of the existing public counter, public search terminals and key computer systems housed in Finch Hill House.
“It is a big undertaking for Registry staff and ISD personnel who will be moving the equipment. However, this will be rewarded with a continued improvement to service standards going forward.”
Political Member responsible for the Companies Registry, Juan Watterson MHK added, “This is part of the overall strategy of consolidating the Department of Economic Development’s functions. It should assist in closer working between divisions and a more “one stop shop” approach for business.”
Customers and clients of the Registry have been advised to delay delivery of non-time critical documents until 9am, Thursday 27th January.
