Meeting against land swap

by isleofman.com 18th January 2011

A public meeting in Kirk Michael has come out against a number of proposed changes at Douglas Road corner in the village.

The gathering, arranged by the area's MHK David Cannan, voted 56-37 against a controversial land swap, involving school grounds, a new housing development and potential alterations to the landmark point on the TT course.

Dandara is still negotiating with the Department of Education and Children over a swap of land at the school, for an entrance to its new housing estate. It says the school would gain more than it would lose.

About 110 people attended the meeting.
