New group 'will be seen as a party'

The chairman of Onchan commissioners believes a group of 'like-minded individuals' who are standing in this year's general election will end up being regarded as a party

Brian Stowell was invited to the early meetings of the group by Rodger Gimbert, who today (Monday) announced his intention to contest the Peel seat, currently held by Tim Crookall.

Those who have attended meetings so far are known to include Mr Gimbert, East Douglas MHK Chris Robertshaw and government minister Phil Gawne.

Mr Stowell says he applauds their aims, but is no longer actively involved with them:
