Gaulty tames the golfing gale at Peel

by isleofman.com 17th January 2011

GALE force winds and light rain put most people off on Saturday when the Tower Insurance Monthly Medal was played. With the ball oscillating on the greens and standing up proving difficult a few hardy souls completed their rounds.

Steve Caley (8) had an impressive 69 nett which he must have thought was good enough. However, Alan Gault (6) used all his experience and Howstake wind shots to take the win on countback. I partnered Alan and he played beautifully, the birdie on the 18th clinching the win. Alan also took the best gross prize with his 75.

This week the postponed Jimmy Patrick Trophy will be played. It is normally a 14 hole comp but will be played as an 18 hole medal this time.
