Hoax call leads to court appearance

by isleofman.com 17th January 2011

A 42-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged in connection with a bomb scare in a government office in central Douglas.

Jonathan Richard Fletcher, of Horseshoe Avenue in Douglas, is charged with using provoking behaviour.

He appeared before deputy High Bailiff Alastair Montgomerie at the weekend, and is alleged to have claimed there was a bomb at the Department of Social Care in Hillary House.

The building was evacuated and searched shortly after 3pm last Friday afternoon, but no device was found.

Mr Fletcher will appear in court again on Friday.
