Pro-Isle of Man MP to give lecture in Douglas

by isleofman.com 15th January 2011

MARK Field MP will speak at the fifth event in the Chief Minister's International Lecture Series.

The talk, Rebalancing the debate around International Finance Centres, takes place on Thursday, February 3 at the Shearwater Suite in the Palace Hotel, Douglas.

Chief Minister Tony Brown MHK said: "The lecture series continues to have two key purposes: first to help us in the Isle of Man better understand the global environment in which we must work to ensure our continued economic success, particularly in these uncertain times, and second to raise awareness outside of our shores of our unique identity, quality of life and commitment to international standards and co-operation.

"I am delighted that Mr Mark Field, MP for the Cities of London and Westminister, will be the speaker.

"Mr Field has led the defence of offshore financial centres and given the Isle of Man fulsome praise, holding it up as a model of economic diversification and has made a cogent case for the importance of Crown Dependences to the City of London."
