Isle of Man Post Office issues Queen and Prince Philip stamps

by isleofman.com 16th January 2011

THE Isle of Man Post Office will release a set of six stamps next month which commemorate landmark events that have been celebrated publicly and privately by HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

A spokesman said: "We begin our celebrations of 60 glorious years of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the first of three landmark stamp issues to honour this great achievement.

"Our issue of six stamps follows Her Majesty and HRH Prince Philip through the decades in photo album form representing the royal couple from their earliest years together to the present day."

The stamps, titled A Lifetime of Service, include pictures of the couple celebrating their Diamond Wedding Anniversary in 2007, the Golden Jubilee Celebrations in 2002 and the Trooping of the Colour in 1971, among others.

The stamps will be issued on February 6 and a miniature sheet will also be available.

In the Isle of Man The Queen is referred to as The Lord of Mann.
