Retired members urged to support association

by isleofman.com 12th January 2011

It's make or break day for an organisation representing retired workers in the Isle of Man.

The Retired Members Association is appealing for a good turnout at its annual general meeting this afternoon (Wednesday).

The group represents former members of trade unions such as Unite and the T&G, and its leaders are keen to campaign on issues such as pensions and healthcare.

But without more support, it will close down for good.

Branch secretary Eddie Sherry says attendances at recent meetings have been poor (play audio file):

The AGM is at the offices of Unite in Fort Street, Douglas at 2pm.
