DEFA 'quite positive' as derogation ends

The Isle of Man's red meat derogation is now officially no more.

The agreement, which protected local producers from cheper imports for 30 years, by limiting the amount of beef coming into the Island, lapsed as 2011 began.

Chief executive at the Department of the Environment, Food and Agriculture Ken Kinrade is hoping the local industry will continue to enjoy the support of retailers and consumers:
