300 responses received on future of Douglas Promenades

by isleofman.com 11th January 2011

THERE is still time to have your say on the future of the Douglas Promenades.

Almost 300 people have responded to the Department of Infrastructure's consultation document, "Issues and Options", which was released on November 16.

The public have been invited to comment on the future carriageway strengthening and reconstruction scheme for Douglas Promenades from the Sea Terminal to Broadway and later from Broadway to Summerhill.

Works may take several years to develop and to deliver but the collection of public views is the first stage in defining the scope of works that need to be carried out and assessing an appropriate timescale for the delivery.

The public have been asked to comment on issues such as the positioning of the horse tram tracks, footways, cycleways, parking, the Marine Garden and various junctions along the promenades.

The Douglas Promenade "Issues and Options" document is currently available for viewing at the Chief Secretary's Office, in libraries and at local authority offices. Copies are also available on the Department of Infrastructure's website.

Volunteers are also required to take part in a focus group to help inform the consultation process and details of how to volunteer are included with the consultation material.

The closing date to respond to this consultation is January 28.
