Cabbies not impressed by findings

Taxi drivers are rejecting a consultation carried out by the Manx government which showed overwhelming support for an all-Island taxi regime.

At the moment, the trade is split into north, south, east and western districts, but the Department of Infrastructure says its latest research shows 78 per cent of people want an all-Island deregulated system.

Ray Teare of the Manx Taxi Federation is accusing Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne of wanting to push the measure through at all costs, and he is dismissing the consultation's results:
