Help needed to make more allotments available

by isleofman.com 8th January 2011

Douglas Borough Council has identified two more areas for allotments off Johnny Watterson's Lane, and hopes to allocate them to people on the waiting list in the not too distant future.

However, the area is currently occupied by a rather large hole, formed during the creation of the nearby lawn cemetery, which needs to be filled before anything can happen.

Chairman of the Leisure Services Committee Stephen Pitts is putting out an appeal to builders, government departments and anybody else who may have a large quantity of good quality soil (play audio file):

Anybody who can help can contact Councillor Pitts via the town hall, on 636300, during normal working hours.
