THE Post Office has issued a reminder to the public that as of Monday, January 31, VAT will be applied to a number of its products and services.
This follows a legal challenge to the VAT exempt status of postal services in the UK and a ruling by the European Court of Justice on services that can be VAT exempt.
The products and services affected include bespoke messenger services, early morning delivery services, Airsure, KeepSafe, Special Delivery by 9am, Door2Door, and a number of Parcelforce services.
VAT will be applied at the standard rate which will be 20 percent. The VAT status on all other products and services remains unchanged.
Products and services outside the EU will be zero-rated.
