Streets of Douglas turn red!

by isleofman.com 7th January 2011

Christmas returns to the Isle of Man today (Friday) with the staging of the postponed Isle of Man Bank Charity Santa Dash.

The event had to be called off on December 21 because of snow and ice on the roads and pavements.

However, the postponement hasn't dampened the enthusiasm of competitors, with a record entry of 123 Santas.

They are bidding for a share of the bank's ?2,700 charity prize fund, with the more serious Santas looking to break John Halligan's four year old course record.

He completed the course in four minutes, 28 second in 2007.

Signing on for today's event is at 12 noon, with a 12.30pm start.
