Abnormal load en-route to Jurby

by isleofman.com 5th January 2011

POLICE have advised members of the public that an abnormal load will be transported from Douglas to Jurby this morning.

Two articulated lorries in the region of 20 metres in length will be escorted by a police convoy from the Sea Terminal to the Jurby Industrial Estate.

Because the lorries load is both high and wide the convoy will be travelling slowly.

It will leave the Sea Terminal at around 9.30am, travel along Lord Street and Peel Road to Quarterbridge and then follow the TT course to Ballaugh. The load will then take the Jurby Coast Road to the industrial estate.

Due to the size of the vehicles at some points on the route they will encroach into the opposing carriageway.

Motorists have been asked to pay attention to the instructions of the police vehicles and, if instructed to, stop in order for the vehicles to pass their location and to wait until both of the escorted vehicles have passed before continuing on their journey.

It is not known how long the journey will take.
