Home Affairs Minister Adrian Eranshaw says he has no plans to follow the United Kingdom's lead, and look at doing away with anti-social behaviour orders.
According to the Daily Telegraph today (Tuesday), the coalition government intends to scrap the system and replace it with other measures, such as forcing offenders to make amends immediately.
One reason is the orders are considered something of a joke, especially when no action is taken when they are broken. Some offenders even regard them as a kind of 'badge of honour'.
Mr Earnshaw says ASBOs aren't issued very often on the Island, but he sees no point in doing away with them:
