Independence 'a necessary option?'

A Manx government minister has claimed actions by the United Kingdom may force the Isle of Man to look for other partners, possibly among the Nordic countries.

Speaking at Hango Hill, Castletown during the annual Illiam Dhone Ceremony on Sunday, Phil Gawne told his audience of around 100 that more of them should become involved in the political process.

He also suggested that recently the UK had proved more of a foe than a friend:
