Dippers raise thousands for charities

Hundreds of people made a refeshing start to 2011, joining New Year's Day dips around the Island.

Many who watched may have made a resolution to take part next time, or avoid it for another year!

Thousands of pounds was raised for charity at the events in Douglas, Port St Mary, Port Erin, Gansey, Laxey and Peel - where the idea of rushing into the sea on January 1 took hold.

These Peel dippers, including Manx Radio's John Moss, seemed to enjoy the experience:
