Dec 2010: The snow returns

by isleofman.com 5th January 2011

HEAVY snowfall in the Island in December once again caused transport chaos.

A number of roads were closed due to the snow and ice while the airport had problems too - on one occasion a lack of de-icer for the aeroplanes led to flights being cancelled.

Some drivers abandoned their cars as a result of the snow while bus services were suspended.

The bad weather, which struck a week before Christmas, impacted on people doing their Christmas shopping and some events had to be postponed or cancelled.

With sub zero temperatures throughout the week the snow and ice stayed around long enough to provide a true winter wonderland for the whole of Christmas Day.
