A CRITIC from The Guardian newspaper has described a film entirely shot in the Isle of Man as the Best British Film of 2010.

Critic Jason Solomons described The Disappearance of Alice Creed as his top British film of 2010 in a run down with The Guardian's associate editor Xan Brooks.

The Disappearance of Alice Creed was filmed in the Isle of Man in early 2009. It stars British actress Gemma Arterton, Eddie Marsan and Martin Compston.

The story revolves around two masked men who seize a young woman - played by Gemma Arterton - and take her to an abandoned, soundproofed apartment.

Talking about the film Jason Solomons said: "It worked as a Pinter-esque thriller where the layers are peeled off and each character gets his or her shot at redemption…right up to the end you never know who is going to come out on top."

Jason was reviewing the year in films in a video blog on The Guardian website.
