Minister says 'prepare for a tough year'

The Island's Treasury minister has signalled a tough economic year ahead in 2011.

Anne Craine has confirmed a tight grip on government spending will be maintained, with a focus on preserving key services for the elderly and vulnerable, along with health care and the education systems.

But she says the Island must hold its nerve as there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Mrs Craine says some tough bargaining can be expected in senior government circles, as ministers seek funding for projects in their own departments:
