A local firm has donated ?150,000 to charities.
Ramsey-based AFD software held its annual charity night at Ramsey Town Hall recently.
Over 50 charities were nominated by AFD's 40 staff members, and organisations providing help for the homeless dominated this year's list.
AFD's managing Director David Dorricott and his wife Alison are both committed Christians and the company aims to generate profits and use them in the relief of suffering, the improvement of society and furtherance of the Christian gospel.
Every member of staff has the opportunity to nominate at least one charity to receive a donation from the company, and this year homelessness was very much to the fore.
Substantial sums went to local charity 'Graih', which provides drop-in facilities, and care and shelter for the homeless in the Isle of Man and the Chapel Street Community Fund', which provides the UK's first primary health care facilities specifically for homeless people in London.
Thousands were also donated to Manx-based 'Hands of Hope', which works to provide decent housing for desperately poor people in Romania.
Smaller amounts were given to dozens of other charities which had been nominated.
Mr Dorricott says they were delighted this year to focus on those many forgotten people who are without decent shelter.
