Tax amnesty suggests no major problem

by isleofman.com 24th December 2010

A tax amnesty saw an additional ?10 million of income disclosed, raising ?1.88 million in revenue for the Manx government.

It was announced in the budget in February, and ran from July to September.

Just over 100 people took advantage of the offer, and settled outstanding demands.

Treasury Minister Anne Criane says such exercises are appropriate from time to time, to allow people to 'bring themselves up to date'.

She says the size of the return indicates there isn't a major problem.
