Christmas on the Hill nativity tomorrow

by isleofman.com 23rd December 2010

THE last ever Christmas on the Hill nativity re-enactment will take place at Tynwald Hill, St John's, tomorrow (Christmas Eve).

Refreshments including hot drinks and mulled wine will be available from 3.30pm and the event itself starts at 4.30pm.

This will be the third year the event has been held and in previous years it has attracted around 3,000 people each year.

It will go-ahead whatever the weather and people are being encouraged to wrap up warm, wear suitable footwear and take a torch.

Organisers have decided tomorrow's event - which features a cast of 60 as well as live animals such as sheep, a donkey and ponies - will be the last as it is such hard work putting it all together.

However they have announced they will be staging the Easter story at Peel Castle on Easter Saturday next year.

Tomorrow's event will see Mary and Joseph arrive with a donkey, and the three wise men will arrive from the East on pack ponies.

The event will last about 45 minutes and children will be able to see all the animals afterwards.
