Big donation to northern hospital

Ramsey Cottage Hospital is receiving an extremely welcome early Christmas present this evening (Wednesday).

A donation of ?1.1 million is being made by the trustees of the Martin Estate.

It's planned to use the money to refurbish a 31-bed inpatient ward.

A ceremony is taking place at the hospital at 5.30pm, during which a cheque will be handed over.

It will be attended by Health Minister David Anderson, Minister for Education and Children Eddie Teare MHK, political member for Health Services Dudley Butt MLC and senior officers from the Department of Health.

Trustees of the Martin Estate and the welfare trustees of Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital will also be there.
