Richmond Hill scheme delayed

by isleofman.com 22nd December 2010

THE Richmond Hill road improvement scheme has been delayed.

The Department of Infrastructure said it regrets to announce the delay to the scheme which should have been completed by December 4.

A statement by the department said it was delayed mainly due to the late decision to replace a water main and the recent spell of sub zero temperatures.

The project will now not be completed until early next year.

Motorists are being reminded the section of New Castletown Road from Spring Valley roundabout to Speke Lane at the top of Richmond Hill is still subject to a 30mph speed limit until the work is completed. This includes the Christmas and New Year period.

The department said: "The speed limit remains for two reasons. Primarily to protect both the workforce and the public until all the works are complete and secondly, new road surfaces can be slippery until they have had some initial trafficking."
