RESIDENTS have given their comments and views on the earth tremor which was felt in the Isle of Man last night.
There was magnitude 3.6 earthquake in Cumbria around 11pm which was also felt in other parts of the UK as well as the Island.
Readers have described to isleofman.com what it felt like.
Hannah Simpson said: "I felt the tremor in Maughold. I thought it was heavy snow falling off the roof or thunder but I felt a vibration under my feet.
"My father saw his water shake and windows! I have felt tremors elsewhere in the world but the one in Cumbria you could really hear and feel. A bit scary."
A Douglas resident said: "I was sat upstairs in my bedroom when the room started to shake and shudder.
"I came downstairs because I was worried it was the boiler but then I went onto Facebook and saw lots of other people had felt it as well, which was a relief."
Theresa Lee said: "Yes I definitely felt it, it was light though and only lasted about five seconds . . . I grew up in a town where we experienced loads of earthquakes and that was definitely a light one."
An emergency services spokesman said: "You may have heard of a reported earthquake in the Cumbria area, I can confirm that a very small number of calls have been received at the Emergency Services' Joint Control Room from persons who have felt the effects in the Laxey/Ramsey/Peel/Onchan areas.
"I can reassure the public that no damage has been reported and certainly no injuries in the Isle of Man.
"We have checked with all our utility organisations and there are no reported problems being experienced as a result of the tremor."
