A CHRISTMAS message for isleofman.com readers from cyclist Mark Christian who won a bronze medal for the Isle of Man at this year's Commonwealth Games:
"I would firstly like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy and successful new year for 2011.
"I have had a busy 2010 competing as part of the Great Britain cycling Under-23 Academy in races across Europe on the track and on the road.
"However the main highlight for me this year was winning the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India. It was a fantastic experience and I was blown away by how much it meant to everyone at home in the Island.
"I would like to thank everyone in the Island for their support, particularly the Isle of Man Sports Aid Foundation who have supported me for a number of years and have been a massive help. I would also like to thank Britannia International for their support which is much appreciated.
"I have to give a massive thanks to everyone involved with the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games team for doing a great job in running and supporting the team.
"Everyone to do with the Manx cycling team managed by Gary Hinds who did a cracking job not only in Delhi but also during the months leading up to the racing and Mike Doyle who has been a huge help and has coached me since my early days as a rider. All of the back up staff and helpers were brilliant which made it a great experience.
"Next year I will be riding with the Great Britain Under-23 Academy again - my main goals being the Under-23 European and World Championships.
"Good look to everyone in Manx sport for next year."
