MANX cycling hero Mark Cavendish failed to make the podium in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
The multiple Tour de France stage winner's achievements were highlighted at the beginning of the programme and Mark, from Laxey, attended the ceremony which was broadcast live on BBC One.
He was one of the top 10 contenders.
Mark said: "To win Sports Personality would be a massive thing to me."
The public voted for who they wanted to see win the award - athelete Jessica Ennis came third, darts player Phil "The Power" Taylor was second and the winner was jockey AP McCoy.
