No buses, as police issue insurance warning

by isleofman.com 19th December 2010

Snow and ice continue to blanket the Isle of Man today (Sunday), bringing road closures and affecting bus services.

No buses will run this morning, with the Department of Community Culture and Leisure due to make a further decision at 9am.

The Mountain Road remains shut, and the TT course is closed between Ballig Bridge and Douglas Road Corner, Kirk Michael until at least 10am.

Boilley Spittall in Peel is also closed until at least 10am, while Summerhill in Douglas has been shut between Blackberry Lane and the promenade.

Police say driving on closed roads is extremely dangerous and also invalidates motor insurance.

They say anybody found committing the offence will be robustly dealt with.

The Met Office at Ronaldsway says it's another very cold day, although it will be dry and bright for much of the time.

Temperatures aren't expected to rise above freezing in many parts of the Island, and there will be another hard frost tonight.
