Computers stolen in school burglary

by isleofman.com 16th December 2010

A TELEVISION and five laptops were stolen during a burglary at Kewaigue Primary School.

It happened between 8.30pm yesterday and 8.30am today (Thursday).

A window on a mobile classroom at the rear of the main school building was smashed and several items were taken including the television and five Apple Macbook Pro laptops.

The laptops are very recognisable as they are white, are only used in schools and are not for sale on the general market.

They were numbered 30 to 34 on the top left hand corner of the machines in permanent marker.

PC David Thommeny of the Eastern Neighbourhood Policing Team wants to speak to anyone who may have knowledge of the crime or anyone who may have been offered a laptop for sale.

The laptops are described as "pretty much useless outside of the classroom environment".

PC Thommeny said: "This is a terrible crime to happen at anytime however what makes it sad on this occasion is the fact these laptops are used by young children wanting to learn at school and ultimately it will be them who lose out as the cost to replace the items will have to come from other areas of the school budget.

"I also would like to remind the public to keep their property secure and to make sure valuable belongings are not on show to anyone looking in."

Anyone with information should contact PC Thommeny at Onchan Police Station on 675190.
