"Severe damage" to car following crash

by isleofman.com 16th December 2010

POLICE are investigating after a car was damaged by another vehicle while parked in Loch Promenade, Douglas.

The crash happened between 11.30am and 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday).

Police said a dark blue Volkswagen Golf, which was stationary and unattended, sustained "severe damage" to the rear driver's side panel.

A spokesman said: "The offending vehicle failed to stop and report the incident. The point of collision on the damaged vehicle is higher than that which would be expected from a car and it is believed that the offending vehicle may be a commercial vehicle.

"Any persons in the area of Loch Promenade at the time of the collision are urged to contact police with any information which could assist our enquiries."

Anyone with information should ring PC Leanne Walsh at Lord Street Police Station on 631212.
