THE work to re-construct 370m of Bowring Rd in Ramsey has been completed on time and within budget.
The road re-opened yesterday (Wednesday) - earlier than planned - and the final account will be within the approved cost, the Department of Infrastructure has announced.
Director of Highways Richard Pearson said: "This was a major project and the fact that the team have delivered on time is a significant achievement, especially as the work included renewing water and gas mains and improvements to electricity and telecom apparatus, as well as full reconstruction of the carriageway and footways.
"The project has been a testament to the department's ability to plan and co-ordinate complex projects and the workforce have executed the scheme well, despite extended spells of severely adverse weather."
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne MHK said: "This scheme is evidence of the department's continued commitment to invest in the strategic maintenance of the Island's roads.
"The diversion worked reasonably well and we do recognise that both residents and the travelling public have been very patient throughout the work.
"The department and I are extremely grateful for the support that has been shown by the public during this essential maintenance work. Thank you."
