There will be no Tynwald committee to examine potential pros and cons of putting the Steam Packet into public ownership, after members voted 25-5 against assessing the feasibility of nationalising the company.
The move was suggested amid concerns the company may cut jobs and reduce passenger services as it competes with a rival freight service, started by Ramsey-based Mezeron.
