A chance to learn life-saving skills

Make a resolution for the New Year to learn how to save a life.

That's the message from St John Ambulance Isle of Man, which offers a range of courses to teach life-saving skills.

Community development officer Phil Bennett believes everyone has the potential to make a difference, which is why it's so important for as many people as possible to know even basic first aid.

In particular he is keen to give parents and anyone who looks after children and babies the skills they might need to deal with a serious situation.

Mr Bennett says the three-hour Emergency Life Support course could mean the difference between life and death (play audio file):
