New radar for Ronaldsway Airport

The infrastructure minister is defending expenditure of ?3.46 million pounds on a new radar system for the Island's airport, which was approved by Tynwald yesterday (Tuesday).

Phil Gawne says there is never a good time to spend large amounts, but the project is in the best interests of the Manx taxpayer.

Ronaldsway will lose its current secondary radar by the end of 2011, and Mr Gawne says it makes economic sense to replace both primary and secondary systems now:
