CELEBRITY chef and hotelier Kevin Woodford revealed his political ambitions in February and said he may stand for the Legislative Council in March.
Mr Woodford said he had not made a final decision but was "giving it very serious consideration". He said: "I've always been interested in politics."
Nominations for candidates for the election took place on March 1.
The March LegCo election was the first under new rules which aimed to stop multiple ballots. In previous years the failure of candidates to secure the necessary 13 votes from MHKs resulted in ballots having to be re-run over and over again which meant it took weeks and sometimes months to get the vacancies filled.
A private members bill was brought in by Rushen MHK Phil Gawne to change the process so that LegCo elections were completed in one sitting.
Update: It was confirmed in March that Kevin Woodford would stand for the Legislative Council. He promised that if he was elected he would "work tirelessly for the people of the Isle of Man". However his election campaign was marred when four members of his campaign team were arrested after a police investigation into proxy voting. The by-election was won by Chris Robertshaw.
