Jan 2010: Orson Welles actor nominated for a BAFTA

AN actor from a film which was shot in the Isle of Man was nominated for a BAFTA award in January.

 
Christian McKay was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his performance of Orson in the film Me and Orson Welles - which was predominantly filmed in the Gaiety Theatre.

 

Minister for Trade and Industry David Cretney MHK said: "He just did transform into Orson Welles. It was a wonderful portrayal. I think he has done very well and we wish him all the very best for the future.

 

"Zac Efron and Richard Linklater (co-star and director) were very positive about the Isle of Man and as a result of the positive comments they have made it has assisted in terms of contacts being made for the future."

 

Christian McKay and his co-stars Clare Danes and Zac Efron attended the premiere of the film at The Gaiety in November 2009.

 

Update: The BAFTA award for Best Supporting Actor went to Christoph Waltz for his performance in Inglourious Basterds.
