May 2010: “Turning point” for Island’s aircraft registry

by isleofman.com 29th December 2010

THE Isle of Man's reputation in aircraft registration reached a major turning point in May according to a director of ICM Aviation.

Mark Byrne spoke out in May following the 10th annual European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) which was held in Geneva.

ICM Aviation Ltd hosted a stand with sister company Martyn Fiddler Associates Limited.

Mark said: "Whilst EBACE didn’t feel as busy this year the event marked a turning point for the reputation of the Isle of Man and its aircraft register.

"At previous events we had to explain to stand visitors where the Isle of Man was and sell the benefits of an M registration. This year however we had delegates approaching our stand asking us, 'we have heard such great things about the Isle of Man, how do we get involved?'"

The Manx aircraft registry celebrated its third birthday on May 1.

Mark continued: "Overall despite the fragile recovery in the business aircraft market we were very encouraged by activity at EBACE 2010.

"It is clear that the Isle of Man is assured of an ever more prominent profile in the business aviation world and I guarantee that ICM will be there to play its part in helping clients take full advantage of the Isle of Man's unique offering."
