THE latest results from the Isle of Man Squash Rackets Association:
B League Results
All About Gardens (194) v Alliance & Leicester International Lions (211)
BRW Racketeers (124) v Onchan Outcasts (225)
Island Exhaust (196) v Apollo Consulting (215)
With only three of last week's results posted the featured game is the top of the table clash between Island Exhaust and Apollo Consulting.
Island Exhaust, league leaders going into the contest, won three of the five games but Apollo ran their opponents so close that, in the two games they won, their margin of victory was sufficient to give them the match win on points. And, with only seven points separating the teams going into the games, Apollo's 19 points win saw them leapfrog Island Exhaust to the top of the table.
At numbers one and five there were virtually identical matches which went the full distance. The Apollo players Ian Kelly and Peter Squires-Wright both took the two opening games and looked to be comfortable for possible straight set wins.
In both cases the Island Exhaust players, Peter Sharples and Lee Loughran, recovered strongly to take the third and fourth games. In both matches it then took until the final deciding point for the Island Exhaust players to win their matches.
The matches at number three and four were both straight set wins for Apollo with Steve Thatcher and John Watterson being too strong for their Island Exhaust opponents Phil Shaw and Brian Cowley.
In the deciding match Ian Sheard beat John Coppell with the latter taking enough points to ensure victory for the visitors. Elsewhere Alliance & Leicester International Lions took a narrow but well deserved win against All About Gardens.
Despite the lack of heating there were still some excellent matches, notably Liam Quinn's win over Lawrence Rea, straight games maybe but each going to the deciding point. Lucy Kerr needed all five games to overcome a very determined Chris Moore.
At the NSC BRW Racketeers were no match for Onchan Outcast but it was still a good night for both teams for while the Racketeers may have lost to the Outcasts, they scored a team personal best of 124.
