A DETECTIVE from the Isle of Man will appear on Crimewatch tonight (Tuesday) to appeal for the whereabouts of a man who has been charged with rape.

Detective Constable Jamie Tomlinson will be at the BBC studios for the BBC One programme, which starts at 9pm, and for the update programme later this evening.

A police spokesman said: "This will be to appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of Che Awembeng Collins who is wanted for failing to appear and breaching court bail conditions in respect of a rape allegation on the Isle of Man for which he has been charged."

Police are stressing the crime has no local connections other than the alleged offence was committed in the Island on August 29.

Collins is not a Manx resident and has no ties with the Island. The alleged victim is also not a Manx resident.

Collins will be featured on the "Wanted" section of the programme.
