Big investment in public conveniences

All of the public toilets on Douglas promenade are to be upgraded by the borough council, at a total cost of ?200,000.

Three new units will be installed at the Jubilee Clock, three more at Strathallan Crescent, and four on Loch promenade, and each of the sites will have one disabled unit.

The design of the new facilities will mirror those installed at the Market Hall earlier this year and, as at the Market Hall, there will be a charge of 20p.

Council leader David Christian says the upgrading programme is not before time:
