Fire crews cut HGV driver out of cab after road traffic collision

FIRE crews have cut a person out of the cab of a HGV after a multiple road traffic collision in Santon.

 

The crews from Douglas and Castletown attended the incident which happened at 1.39pm this afternoon at Knock Froy corner opposite the Ballacutchel Road.

 

Two heavy goods vehicles, a van and car were involved.

 

The driver trapped in the cab of the HGV had to be removed from the wreckage by fire crews who used cutting, spreading and hydraulic ram equipment in order to free him.

 

The casualty was taken to hospital for further treatment. No one else was injured.

 

Fire crews had cleared the scene by 3.57pm. The road is now re-open.
