July 2010: Vandal attack at school just days after closing for summer

by isleofman.com 31st December 2010

ANY further vandal attacks at schools could lead to school grounds being shut outside of school hours, we reported in July.

Vandals struck at Braddan School which led to the warning from Education and Children Minister Eddie Teare MHK.

He said at the time: "We will not tolerate vandalism in our school grounds. If the culprits are apprehended we will insist on prosecution.

"As well as being a nuisance for police and school staff to deal with, this ultimately costs the taxpayer money as they have to pay for repairs and replacements.

"Further incidents will mean we will have to reconsider our policy of leaving the facilities available for use out of school hours."

The vandal attack at Braddan came just days after schools closed for the summer.
