Beware the winter vomiting virus

by isleofman.com 10th December 2010

The Director of Public Health is warning people on the Island to be on the lookout for the Winter Vomiting Virus once again.

Yesterday (Thursday), the Health Protection Agency in the UK issued a warning of increasing norovirus activity and, in Liverpool, a primary school was closed after more than a quarter of its 200 pupils went down with norovirus - or the related rotavirus.

Both cause vomiting, diarrhoea, fever and dehydration.

Dr Parameshwaran Kishore says there have been some cases reported on the Island already but he's hoping to ensure there isn't a widespread outbreak.
