"Fully commercial" focus for Isle of Man Post Office

by isleofman.com 9th December 2010

THE chief executive of Isle of Man Post Office said the organisation should diversify its business in a "fully commercial manner".

Mike Kelly's comments were contained in a press release issued by the Isle of Man Post Office - a statutory board of the Isle of Man Government - which stated that six months into her role commercial director Lisa Duckworth is confident the business is heading in the right direction.

It read: "Lisa's promotion could not have come at a better time as the business looks to introduce new products and services to bridge the gap of traditional mail volumes which are falling year-on-year.

"Over the years Isle of Man Post Office has evolved to become a commercially driven business and one of the most innovative postal authorities in Europe.

"This is set to continue and Lisa is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies for all commercial activities within Isle of Man Post Office, strengthening the focus on generating new revenues through the development of new products and services.

"Lisa is leading the development of all key business relationships, building upon the strong relationships with key clients, partners and suppliers the business already has."

Mr Kelly said: "With the continued decline of our traditional mail volumes, it is important that we continue to diversify our business in a fully commercial manner.

"It was therefore important that we appoint a commercial director to ensure focus and drive of Isle of Man Post Office at a strategic level within the organisation.

"A commercial focus is imperative for our future success and with Lisa's extensive knowledge of our business, her enthusiasm and dedication, I'm sure the new products we are currently developing will be very successful."

Lisa said: "I am enjoying my new role and developing new products and services whilst maintaining excellent relationships with the customers using our existing products.

"There is a lot of hard work ahead but it is an exciting time of change for the business. I have an excellent team working with me and I'm confident we can achieve much success."
