by isleofman.com 8th December 2010

A call has been made for the Manx government to make up its mind over whether to get involved in the freight dispute between the Steam Packet and Mezeron.

It came ahead of a meeting this lunchtime, between three unions representing staff at the Packet and politicians.

Chris Bowen from the officers' union Nautilus is urging the government to do something about the situation (play audio file):

Michael MHK David Cannan has tabled a motion proposing public owenership of the Steam Packet for next week's sitting of Tynwald.
