Christmas dining - in front of a log fire

by isleofman.com 7th December 2010

HALCYON Days, the unique country restaurant in Ballaugh, still has a few spare tables in December to enjoy the special festive atmosphere in front of a proper log fire.

Gordon and Liz Gubby provide a traditional menu for lunch and dinner with lots of turkey, game, pate and fresh organic vegetables, as well as home made Christmas pudding and desserts featuring wild berries.

“We are offering traditional, good old fashioned comfort food,” said Liz.

The Halcyon Days Farm Shop is also still taking last minute orders for partridge, pheasant, duck, hare and rabbit while their Christmas hampers have proved to be really popular, full of their own organically grown produce straight from the gardens.

The January cookery workshops still have some places left. ‘Everything you need to know about game’ is on January 15th and ‘Traditional Bread Making & Warming Winter Soups’ will be on January 29th.

The message from Liz and Gordon is: “It only remains for us to wish you all a very ‘Happy Christmas’ and thank you for your support this year and may it continue into 2011.”
