The chairman of the Isle of Man Cycling Association has ridden to the defence of superstar Mark Cavendish.
Cav has been accused of snubbing the capital, after Douglas Council gave up attempts to arrange a presentation ceremony to formally confer on him the freedom of the borough.
Council leader David Christian said efforts to organise an event had gone on for well over two years, and the lack of response was something of a slur.
